Meet Teacher Alexander (Piano, Guitar)
Alex is a multi-instrumentalist and recording artist based in Edmonton, Alberta, with a strong passion for music, performance, and education. He is dedicated to helping students of all levels build solid musical foundations that support lifelong growth and enjoyment.
Beginning his musical journey later in high school, Alex quickly immersed himself in performing and recording with multiple punk bands over the following decade. During this time, he developed a strong understanding of harmony and music theory, further supported by seven years of formal piano study. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Alberta, where he gained valuable insight into learning processes and personal development—tools he now applies to help students unlock their potential for creativity and self-expression through music.
Alex later completed the diploma exit requirements of the Bachelor of Music program at MacEwan University, specializing in guitar performance. This experience allowed him to refine his technical skills and deepen his understanding of both guitar and piano. He continues to perform as a guitarist and keyboardist with the Edmonton-based electro-pop band Limited Hangout.
Drawing inspiration from principles such as long-term athletic development, Alex takes a holistic approach to music education. He emphasizes the importance of exploring a wide range of musical skills and styles, helping students stay motivated and engaged. His teaching philosophy centers on fostering a genuine appreciation for music while encouraging confidence, creativity, and lifelong learning.
Meet Teacher David (Piano, Drums)
David is a dedicated and accomplished musician with a lifelong passion for the arts. He began his musical journey at a young age through studies in both drums and piano, experiences that laid the foundation for his enduring commitment to music and artistic expression.
David holds a Master of Music in Composition from the University of Alberta, where he refined his skills in composition, analysis, and music theory. His academic background, combined with years of practical experience, has shaped a well-rounded and thoughtful approach to both music-making and education.
As an educator, David is deeply committed to helping students of all ages and skill levels develop strong musical foundations. His teaching emphasizes a balance between technical proficiency, theoretical understanding, and creative exploration, ensuring that students not only build skills but also gain confidence and personal connection to the music they study. He is particularly passionate about making music theory accessible and relevant, helping students see its value as a tool for both performance and composition.
In addition to teaching and composing, David continually seeks to expand his own musicianship by learning new instruments and exploring a wide range of musical styles. Meet Teacher Francis (Piano, Voice, Ukulele, Drums)
Francis holds a Bachelor of Education and brings over 16 years of experience as a high school teacher, with a strong background in both elementary and secondary music education.
He is skilled in teaching piano, ukulele, voice, and drums, and has experience performing and singing at talent shows and local venues. Francis has a deep appreciation for a wide variety of musical genres, including folk, pop, country, and rap.
Known for his calm and positive demeanour, Francis creates a supportive and encouraging learning environment. He values laughter and connection in his lessons, and works to meet each student where they are. By identifying individual learning styles and focusing on music that students enjoy and feel comfortable with, he helps foster both confidence and motivation.
Francis believes in celebrating both small and large achievements, and is passionate about helping students discover the intrinsic value of learning, patience, and hard work.
Meet Teacher Monica (Piano, Voice, Ukulele)
Monica is a highly experienced and dedicated music educator at Beaumont Music Academy, specializing in piano, voice, and ukulele instruction. Originally from Romania, Monica holds a Bachelor of Music degree from "Transilvania" University, with a focus on Music Pedagogy, Piano, and Choral Conducting. In Romania, she honed her teaching skills at the School of Fine Arts in Lugoj and served as a Musical Supervisor at the Brasov Opera House.
After moving to Canada, Monica furthered her education at Simon Fraser University in British Columbia, earning a Diploma in Education and additional training in music pedagogy. Over the past two decades, she has worked as a music specialist and contract teacher in various schools, including the Coquitlam School District and Parkland School Division. Her career is marked by a commitment to providing high-quality education in a caring and safe environment, tailoring her approach to meet the individual needs of her students.
Fluent in French as a second language, Monica brings a multicultural perspective to her teaching. She has participated in numerous professional development workshops on topics such as classroom management, curriculum adaptation, and Orff music for children, enhancing her ability to engage and inspire her students.
Monica is passionate about fostering a love of music in her students and helping them develop into well-rounded individuals. Now living in Edmonton with her family, she is excited to contribute her extensive experience to Beaumont Music Academy, where she continues to nurture the musical talents of young learners. In her free time, Monica enjoys traveling, reading, and exploring various musical genres.

Meet Teacher Grace (Voice & Piano)
Grace Samycia is a talented and dedicated music educator who brings a wealth of experience and a deep passion for the arts to Beaumont Music Academy. Born and raised in Edmonton, Grace has been immersed in the world of music from a young age. Her journey began with piano lessons, where she developed a strong foundation in music theory and technique. Over the years, her love for music grew, leading her to pursue voice lessons, choral singing, and eventually a professional career in music education.
As a classically trained soprano, Grace has honed her vocal skills through over ten years of rigorous voice training and more than fifteen years of choral singing. She has performed with some of Edmonton’s most prestigious choirs, including the Edmonton Columbian Choirs, Alberta Youth and Treble Choir, and currently, the Concordia Concert Choir, Ariose, and St. Benedict’s Evensong.
Grace’s extensive performance experience includes solo work in various recitals and concerts, where she has captivated audiences with her vocal clarity, emotional expression, and stage presence.
Grace’s academic achievements further underscore her commitment to music. In 2024, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music and a Vocal Pedagogy and Performance Certificate from Concordia University of Edmonton. These credentials reflect her deep understanding of both the artistic and technical aspects of singing. Additionally, Grace is pursuing a Bachelor of Education at Concordia, with the goal of becoming an elementary music teacher, where she can inspire young minds through music.
In her role at Beaumont Music Academy, Grace offers both voice and piano lessons. Her teaching philosophy centers on creating a supportive and encouraging environment where students feel confident to explore their musical talents. Grace understands that each student is unique, and she tailors her lessons to meet the individual needs and goals of each child. Grace’s teaching is enriched by her experience as an Early Childhood Educator, where she developed strong skills in working with young children. She is certified in Early Childhood Education and has completed her Red Cross Standard First Aid & CPR/AED Level C, ensuring that her students are in safe and capable hands. Her ability to connect with children, combined with her extensive musical background, makes her an ideal instructor for young learners.
Outside the classroom, Grace is an active member of the Edmonton music community. She has worked with a diverse group of musicians across the city and continues to perform in various choirs and small ensembles. Grace’s leadership skills have been recognized in her role as President of the Concordia Concert Choir, where she played a key role in organizing performances and fostering a sense of community among choir members.
When she’s not teaching or performing, Grace enjoys spending time with her two beloved dogs and being an involved and caring aunt to her two nephews. Her warm and approachable personality, combined with her professional expertise, makes her a favorite among students and parents alike.

Meet Teacher Andrew (Guitar, Piano, Voice, Drums, Theory)
With over 18 years of experience in the music and audio industries, Andrew Sutherland is a highly skilled composer, sound designer, and music educator. Based in Beaumont, Alberta, Andrew's expertise spans a wide array of musical genres from rock, metal, wind band, jazz, classical, electronic, and hip-hop. His technical prowess, honed through years as an audio engineer and multi-instrumentalist, complements his deep understanding of music theory and production.
Andrew's career has been built on a diverse portfolio, ranging from indie game audio design to directing concert and jazz bands at Bev Facey High School. As the Music Director at the school, he has mentored countless students, teaching everything from wind band, jazz band, electric guitar, classical guitar, bass, drums, voice, piano, composition, advanced placement music theory, and audio engineering. His dynamic role includes conducting a variety of ensembles, instrument instruction, overseeing live performances, and recording sessions, while also providing real-world education in sound production.
With a certificate in Video Game Audio from Berklee, Andrew also composes music and sound effects for video games, TV, and film, continually expanding his creative and technical skills.
Meet Teacher Tim (Guitar, Piano)
Tim is an experienced music instructor with decades of teaching and performing experience, specializing in guitar and piano. He brings a deep appreciation for music from a wide range of styles and cultures, with particular focus on classical, rock, and pop.
Over the years, Tim has worked extensively with singer-songwriters and bands throughout the Edmonton music scene. His performance experience includes playing lead guitar on Folk You, the alt-country album by Mikka Corbeil.
Tim’s teaching philosophy centers on discovering what inspires each student most. By focusing on the music that excites and motivates them, he creates lessons that are engaging, supportive, and enjoyable, helping students build both skill and a lasting love of music.
Meet Teacher Sophie (Guitar, Piano, Ukulele, Voice, Violin)
Sophie is a versatile singer and multi-instrumentalist currently enrolled in the Musical Theatre program at MacEwan University. She brings a diverse musical background and a well-rounded approach to both performance and teaching.
Sophie is an accomplished violinist, having studied to a Grade 8 conservatory level. Her training includes private instruction, string ensemble participation, and music camps since the age of eight. In addition to her instrumental expertise, she has four years of formal vocal training with a focus on musical theatre and classical styles, while also having experience teaching contemporary pop singing.
Her musical experience extends to guitar and bass, with a strong foundation in rock music and performance in multiple bands. Sophie also plays trombone and ukulele, and is comfortable teaching students across all of these instruments.
With her strong classical foundation, particularly through violin studies, Sophie emphasizes the importance of music theory and proper technique in her teaching, regardless of the instrument or genre. She strives to provide students with a balanced and engaging learning experience that supports both technical development and creative expression.

Beaumont Music Academy is the brainchild of Carol Cowie, a dedicated music educator with an unwavering commitment to nurturing both students and teachers as we embark on our journey towards creating an exceptional music studio experience. Hailing from Northern Ireland, Carol's passion for music ignited at the tender age of 4, under the guidance of esteemed mentors Ruth White and Elizabeth McCausland. At 18, she ventured to Dublin, where her musical odyssey truly began at the College of Music, Dublin.
In Dublin, Carol immersed herself in the world of piano performance and pedagogy, emerging as a top graduate of her class and the proud recipient of the Frank O'Reilly Cup for Perpetual Excellence. Holding the prestigious distinction of being a Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music, London, as well as possessing a Graduate Diploma in Music Teaching from the College of Music, Dublin, Carol stands as a beacon of musical proficiency and instructional prowess.
But her musical talents don't stop at the piano. With nearly three decades of teaching experience under her belt, Carol is equally accomplished as a clarinettist and piano accompanist. Her multifaceted musical expertise enriches the learning experiences of all who cross her path.
Carol's infectious enthusiasm for music and teaching is palpable, and she is thrilled to extend her love for both to the vibrant Beaumont community. Her integral role in ensuring that every student and educator at Beaumont Music Academy feels valued and supported makes her an indispensable part of our journey toward building the next level music studio.

His work behind the scenes helps create a learning environment where creativity can thrive, schedules run smoothly, and the experience is seamless for families and staff alike. As General Manager of the Music Academy, Amber is the friendly and organized force behind the daily experience of our students, families, and teachers. She oversees scheduling, onboarding, billing, and student support—ensuring that every detail is handled with care and every interaction feels smooth and stress-free.
Amber works closely with both new and returning families to make sure students are placed in the right programs and supported throughout their musical journey.
